If rust has accrued (this can happen due to storage and moisture) please remove with wire wool. Remove protective film with washing-up liquid and hot water then dry. Iron pans must be burned-in to achieve the optimal roast result.
Always use a hot plate that has the same diameter as the pan-base. If your hotplate is to big you will waste energy, if it is to small the pan-base can not be heated evenly which can cause that the pans base goes out of place.
